Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world is known as “Chomolungma” in Sherpa and Tibetan language. It is popularly known as “Sagarmatha” in Nepali.Mount Everest was first coined by Sir George Everest (the British Surveyor General of India) when the peak was first identified as ‘Point XV’ on Nepal- Tibet border. This trail intersects the traditional Sherpa villages-Monjo, Phakding, Namche Bazar,Tengboche,Dingboche, Tashinga, etc,and finally reaches- ‘Kala Pattar’ (18,193 ft) which is just beside Base Camp. One can enjoy traditional Sherpa life style , culture and alpine climate and vegetation on the way to Kalapather. We can have scenic view of the Everest from Kalapather.
