Considered
as one of the world's most popular trekking area, the Annapurna Circuit
has remained open with the opening of the Manang Valley in the
late 1970s. The are had been closed previously because of its
proximity to the Tibetan border. The area is
characterised by a combination of spectacular
high mountain scenery, picturesque lowland farms and
villages. The cultural richness and challenging passes in the
area make the Annapurna Circuit trek much more interesting and
exciting.

Following the sightseeing of the culturally rich Kathmandu
Valley, the journey to the world-famous Annapurna Circuit
begins. Throughout the journey, one can have contacts with
friendly and innocent rural people beloning to various ethnic
communities. The breathtaking view of many mountain peaks such
as Mt. Manaslu and the Annapurna range really makes
one's trip more memorable. The 5,416-metre Thorung La Pass is
the highest point during the trip. The pass lies beyond the Tibetan Buddhist village of Manang.
During the trek, one has to pass through very important
places like the Kali Gandaki Valley, Ghorepani, Poon Hill,
among others. These areas are famous for having a spectacular dawn views of Dhaulagiri and the
Annapurna ranges. |
