The first few days out of Basantapur are easy and pleasant, leading up to Gupha Pokhari, where Makalus reflection simmers in the water of a pond. A trail continues up through the extensive pure rhododendron forests of the Milke Danda, past herders camps, and onto Jaljale Himal (4765 meters), a rocky ridge set with a few small lakes. From the end of February till April is the best time for rhododendron flower. For the return, several trails run down side ridges to reach Tumlingtar where we catch our flight to Kathmandu. Trekkers carry only daypack and walk at their own pace.
