Trekking to Everest Base Camp via Jiri offers one a thrilling experience. As the trekking is adventurous, one must have good walking experience and physical fitness. During the trekking, one can get the opportunity to have a panoramic view of many important peaks ranging from Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Cho-Oyu (8152m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8463m) and Mt. Ama Dablam (6456m). Trekkers have to pass through famous Sherpa settlements at Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Buddhist Monastery, Khunde, Khumjung, among others.
In the lower parts of the region, mixed type of settlements of varying ethnic groups such as magars, Tamangs, Brahmins and Chhetris are found. The Sherpas are the dominant ethnic communities in the northern part of the region.
