As a beautiful tourist hub in the central part of Nepal, Pokhara is considered the main gateway to the famous Annapurna region. Mainly, there are three trekking routes leading to Jomsom, Annapurna sanctuary and the circuit of entire Mt. Annapurna. With many trekking areas in and around Pokhara, the city is also a good starting place for short treks from three to seven days. Although Mustang is a part of the Annapurna Region, the region is still restricted. Special permit has to be taken to visit Mustang.
An estimated two thirds of the total trekkers visiting Nepal go to the Annapurna Region. Being an easily accessible area, hotels are available here the trek to the region offers good scenery of both high mountains and lowland villages
