First identified as K5 during the Colonial Great Trigonometric Survey of India, Gasherbrum I was later named "Hidden Peak" by Victorian mountaineers, a nod to its isolation, a description that still holds true. As the tallest peak in the Gasherbrum Massif, it remains one of the most obscure and least attempted of the 8,000-meter mountains. Even on the known routes, climbers often feel like pioneers, underscoring the critical importance of an exceptional guiding team for any successful expedition.
